it's exactly 17:53 as I start writing. In a few minutes the Muezzin's call will fill the air again and all the believers - and also the non-believers who are fasting - will sit down to break fast, then go back for prayers only to come back later for a real full-blown meal. During Ramadan there's no eating and no drinking as you know and while all the muslims are doing it, some of the non-muslims are taking the oportunity to clean out their system and they are also participating, without the prayers of course.
.
I am clearly not one of them. My poor body has enough to cope with already;
- the change in climat, heat and constant wind
- the morning exercise with Barakat!!!
- the complete lack of elevators, escalators or any other kind of up-and-down-assistance
- the condition of the roads
- and well, I'm just not a Muslima
I need water and food during the day. Not much, but not only at night either.
Angelika has brought Kefir with her all the way from home and is still pampering that thing. It almost died in Dubai, she said. But tonight, we will get to taaste it for the first time. She was just here to let me know that it has survived. Kefir seems to be another kind of Joghurt, I've seen it before with Pia, but I don't remember what it tastes like nor how to grow the bacteria. Anyway, we will see tonight.
Yesterday I spent most of the day booking the flight for Frank, our TERRE DES FEMMS-fotographher who will be flying-in later this month. We decided to have him here on location to get proper pictures for the campaign we're planning next year. It's always difficult to start a campaign and the first thing that's missing are pics. Buying the rights to someone elses material is just as expensive as doing it ourselves. So, Frank needed flights booked and since the route we came was fully booked (Zurich-Dubai-Berbera) I had to find the best possible alternative. He's now booked from Zurich to Cairo to Addis Abeba to Djibouti to Hargeisa. It will take him two days from the starting point to the arrival. But that's the best there is. Lucky him, he does not have to do the Berbera - Hargeisa drive, that's a bit like torture too. So, after making a mistake when booking his Addis - Djibouti flight, we had to phisically go to the Ethiopian Airlines Office in the afternoon and fix the boo-boo I made. That actually went better than anticipated, Tom accompanied me and together we managed to get things done. :-)
I have told you that I committed to early morning exercise with Barakat. Well, today there was another ealry morning and when my Alarm went down at 5:45am I thought of telling him that I have a blinding head-ache and cannot participate today. In the end I got up, put my bandana around my head, took my mat and water-bottle and went up to the roof. It was excrutiating! He tought of a few new moves that simply made me moan even louder than yesterday. All the muscles in my body - especially the stomach area - are hurting. And to think of tomorrow morning makes me want to cry. Salomé, being the Teenager in puperty that she is, completely ignores my whining every time I come down from the roof.

And now, dear reader, I must end this picture session. Internet is sooooooooooooooooooooooooo slow at the moent that after a few hours, I have no patience left. I promise to upload more tomorrow.
I will also find a program on my new little machine, to reduce the size of the pics, that will help too.
Cheers!
Liana
