New clothes

Things really do slow down here during Ramadan. We can get things done in the morning, but in the afternoon, there's a lot of napping going on. Some people work again from 4-6 but most don't.

Today Edna and Naima, her Chief of Administration, took us to the market to get some traditional Somaliland outfits. I did not have the heart to have pics taken just yet, Salomé and myself have to get used to them first. While at the market, we also bought a new mattress for Salomé, a bit thicker and a bit harder and stronger than the one she has. The way this works with the cloths is that we buy the fabric and then take that to the seamstress to have it sown into dresses. The fabric for one dress cost us USD 15.00, the seamstresses work cost USD 1.00 per dress. Isn't that amazing?

  1. But you will take photos of you and Salome when the clothes are finished?
I look every day for your news and I enjoy it.
We also have a little bit Africa-feeling in Switzerland, the temperatures are high. But it's nice that way. After 8 months of winter does it well.
    Best regards!
